The workshop will take place in hotel Paradox Singapore (previously known as Swissôtel Merchant Court), located in the central entertainment district of Clarke Quay which hosts a multitude of restaurants, cafes, and bars. It is within walking distance to many points of interest such as Singapore’s Chinatown, the Merlion Park by Marina Bay, or the Central Business District, and within a short bus or train ride away to most other attractions.
The most convenient way to reach the conference venue from the airport is by taxi, which can be taken from designated taxi stands at each terminal. A trip to Paradox Singapore should cost up to S$30–35 and take no longer than half an hour.
Depending on your time of arrival, the taxi stands at the airport may be crowded. It is usually much faster to book a taxi through a ride-hailing app. Note, however, that Uber is not available in Singapore; the local alternatives are Grab and Gojek, both of which accept international payment cards.
Paradox Singapore can also be reached from Changi Airport by the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT). The easiest way is as follows:
Please consult the map below for more details and alternative routes.
Single-journey tickets can be purchased by cash or card at each MRT station, and prepaid Ez-link cards are available at the Changi Airport station. Alternatively, all of Singapore’s local trains and buses accept contactless Mastercard and Visa credit/debit cards, including international ones. They can be used to tap in and tap out just like a public transport card.
Public transport trips within Singapore can be planned with Google Maps or Citymapper.
All workshop participants are entitled to discounted rates at Paradox Singapore, starting at S$260 (+taxes) per night for a Luxe Room. To book using this rate, please use this link.
There is a wide variety of other hotels in the vicinity of the Paradox, all of which can be found through websites such as Booking.com or Hotels.com. We also suggest to search for other hotels around the Chinatown and Bugis areas, which have many cheaper options and are within a 10–15-minute bus ride to the workshop venue.
The conference dinner will take place in the restaurant Peach Garden, located on the 33th floor of the OCBC Centre (65 Chulia St, Singapore 049513). We will leave from Paradox Hotel at 18:15 and walk to the restaurant. Participants who wish to go to the dinner venue directly should arrive no later than 18:45.
